Xela is the inspiration of Manchester, England-based John Twells, the moniker under which he records atmospheric, eclecticist, and often somber electronic music. Twells' padre was a guitarist and he developed a love of music early on, playing champagne flute and saxophone as a youngster and moving on to guitar in his teens. After playing in versatile bands, Twells began making music on his own, finding more intake in electronic music than the metal, punk, and indie influences of his late work. Twells sent kO'd demos of his work, which caught the ear of Metamatics' Lee Norris, wHO asked him to put up a cut to a compiling and released Xela's 2003 debut mini-album For Frosty Mornings and Summer Nights on the Neo Ouija label. Around that time, Twells began collaborating with Gabriel Morley, aka Logreybeam, as the duo Yasume. 2004 saw the release of Involved Wool, a appeal of love songs that likewise reintroduced guitars into Twells' music, on City Centre Offices. Two geezerhood by and by, The Dead Sea, a conception album around a ship attacked by zombies, arrived on Twells' have Type label (which likewise issued releases by Logreybeam and Khonnor). Influenced by prog, sea shanties, Italian horror soundtracks, and racket, the album also featured beautifully grim visuals by artist Matthew Woodson. That class, Yasume's homage to David Lynch and Angelo Badalamenti's influence on Twells and Morley, Where We're from the Birds Sing a Pretty Song, was too released.

Glastonbury Day One Photo Review: Kings Of Leon Rock Festival Crowds

King of Leon closed the first day of the Glastonbury Festival last night (June 27th) with a defiant performance on the Pyramid Stage.

The band, whose booking at the event had been greeted by a mixed reception, proved any doubters wrong as they delivered a memorable set that drew songs from their three albums.

Caleb Followill, the band’s frontman, appeared emotional throughout much of the performance, praising fans for helping the band to climb the ranks at the festival.

"We've worked all the way up to where we are now so here's to you guys. Thank you very much for letting us do this,” he said.

Last night also saw performances from Pete Doherty, Franz Ferdinand and Editors.

Tom Petty tour off and running

Tom Petty [ tickets ] and the Heartbreakers have rolled out their North American summer tour, which will visit arenas, amphitheaters and festivals across the US and into Canada through late August. The outing is three shows in, with the next stop being a two-night stand in Philadelphia this Thursday and Friday (6/5-6/6). Since the original tour announcement, a second show was booked in the Boston market and a few festival performances were added to the itinerary: Milwaukee's Summerfest, Denver's inaugural Mile High Music Festival, San Francisco's Outside Lands fest, and the Pemberton Festival in British Columbia. Veteran singer/songwriter Steve Winwood is supporting the trek, which is detailed below. The road trip came as a bit of a surprise, since Petty had previously told a reporter that his 2007 tour to support "Highway Companion" could be his last."Highway Companion," which surfaced in the summer of '06, marked Petty's third solo release and 18th overall career album. The set debuted at No. 4 on The Billboard 200, making it the singer/songwriter's highest-ever chart debut. Petty also recently reformed his pre-Heartbreakers outfit, Mudcrutch, with original bandmates Tom Leadon and Randall Marsh, and longtime Heartbreakers Benmont Tench and Mike Campbell. The group released its first-ever full-length album in April, and the self-titled set snagged the No. 8 spot on The Billboard 200. The musicians supported it with an April trek across California. In addition to a recently re-released greatest-hits package, Petty and the Heartbreakers have been celebrating their 30 years of rock-and-roll history with the box set "Runnin' Down a Dream." The four-disc collection comprises a double-DVD documentary, a DVD of the band's 30th anniversary concert in Gainesville, FL, and a soundtrack CD featuring rare and unreleased tracks. A companion coffee table book is also available.

Britney Spears in talks for another HIMYM appearance

April 2, 2008 () - Britney Spears' guest appearance on How I Met Your Mother Monday night, March 24, fetched the CBS sitcom its highest rating ever so it is not surprising that the show producers are in talks with her for a follow up appearance.

According to TV Guide's Michael Ausiello Britney's next appearance could be as Ted's (Josh Radnor) stalker.

"It all depends on her availability," a source said.

A second appearance on HIMYM for Britney would be more logical than appearing on another TV show. One of the reasons she appeared on HIMYM and not another show was because the producers were willing to provide her the controlled environment she needed.

It is also likely that she has established a comfort zone working with the cast and crew of the show.

Louis Walsh slams new show Rock Rivals

'X Factor' judge Louis Walsh has blasted the new drama series 'Rock Rivals' for being unrealistic.
Walsh told The Mirror: "There's far more drama on 'The X Factor' in any week than there's likely to be in this whole series."
"I was so excited when I sat down to watch it. I expected it to be great," he said.
"I had spent a whole day on set doing a cameo and they cut me. I was annoyed, but now I've seen it I'm glad that I ended up on the cutting room floor. It could have been so funny and real but it isn't."
Walsh also said that the show didn't show enough of the rivalry that exists between the judges on reality shows.
He said: "They didn't capture the tension and the drama on the show between the judges and the contestants - especially the judges."

Hip-hop distich Lil' Dap and Melachi -- conjointly known as Group Home -- surfaced in 1995 on a compilation called Guru Presents Ill Kids Records, which was released some the same time as their debut album, Livin' Proof. In maliciousness of Guru's championing the distich, Group Home remained tacit for a few years, finally reappearing in 1999 with the album A Tear for the Ghetto, which featured cameos from Guru, Steph Lova, and the Jerky Boys.

Hammond quits new home after just 70 hours

Johns given the star treatment

THINGS are looking up for Australia's Michael Johns despite his shock dismissal from American Idol, including hanging out with Ashton Kutcher and a call from Dolly Parton.

The Perth-born 29-year-old, who struggled for a decade in the US to establish a music career, has been offered numerous recording deals since his elimination last week. He's also had enough brushes with A-List celebrities since to dine out on for decades to come. A few hours after the jaws of American Idol's 30 million TV viewers dropped to the floor when Johns was asked to leave, his own idol, country singer Dolly Parton, called his mobile phone. "There was a voice on the phone and it said 'Michael, this is Dolly'," Johns, a guest on US TV talkshow Regis & Kelly recalled. "She said 'You have a great career ahead of you and I'd like to write with you and maybe do a duet'." After his surprise send-off Johns jetted off to New York and dropped in to the set of NBC TV show Saturday Night Live (SNL) where Hollywood star Ashton Kutcher was the guest host. Johns was invited back to the SNL after-party where Kutcher, his wife Demi Moore and plenty of other A-listers, including Cameron Diaz, partied late into the night. "Demi Moore came up to me, gave me a big hug and said 'You were robbed'," Johns said. "I was standing there thinking 'If this is Demi Moore hugging me then I'm freaking out right now'." The night got better. Johns was then invited to the SNL after-party's after-party. It was at a Manhattan bar and Kutcher and Moore had organised a band to entertain their friends, but the band failed to turn up. "Demi came up and said 'Would you sing?', " Johns, shaking his head, said. "It was weird. "A guy played keyboards and then Ashton and I were singing. "It was so surreal." Johns, who was considered one of the top three competitors on American Idol before the shock elimination, said he was not about to let his fame from the reality TV show go to waste. "It's time to get to work now," he said.
